Veil was banned in Australia, France, and a few other countries after a Moscow theatre was seized by a bunch of veiled 'liberation warriors' from Chechnya.  Anybody writing on this topic should note that it has been banned in Turkey by Kamal Ataturk and remained so until Erdogan came to power. Veil was not mandatory even in primitive Islam. The revelation about it was for the wives of the Prophet only.
