Christians blame Pagans for cannibalism and put a blind eye to the Greek practice of consuming their first born. For example, Agamemnon had to sacrifice his first child before he sailed to fight Troy, father of Zeus consumed his children till he avenged their deaths etc. Phoenician priests loved the grilled meat of first born. Abraham was Abhamra, father of the sacrificial altar, for over nine decades of his life. Before cattle and poultry farming developed, I suppose, there was no cheap source of meat protein. Children were born due to the cardinal sin of carnal desire and parents had to let the first child go. The practice continued unabated till God sacrificed his own child, Jesus, at the Roman cross and thus became atoned with his subjects. As child slaughter grew outdated, the first borns were made Janisseries for religious armies.
