As for the phrase "self-defeating", people like Mr. Chakrabarty need to look at what happened to their own kind over the last 68 years in their homeland of centuries; and people like the just dead Punjab Home Minister to think what they are heading toward with their religious fanaticism and hatred.
I can actually understand why some otherwise good people do not criticize religious books and people. For them, my advice is, stay quiet, as opposed to feeding what will harm good people like you.
