Re: [mukto-mona] Islam and democracy: What's the problem?

When people shamelessly connect ethics with religion, that tells me that the lady lacks the knowledge of how human ethics has evolved in our society. It's origin predates any religion, let alone Islam. It came with the beginning of human society and got far more refined and fine-tuned with the advancement of society and still an ongoing process as we speak.
The trouble I see is that Islamist would like to have one rule for Muslim dominated countries while a separate fairer system for them from the secular democracies. Sounds like 'I want to be treated fairly in your system of government but you may not ask the same from my system." That is a huge problem.

Discussion can bear fruits only when there is a room for discussion, and, there is not much room here for discussion.
Islam is the only religion on earth that prescribes political system for its followers as well, in addition to religion, and Islamic political system appears to be closer to socialism than democracy.

Good to see that a discussion has started. But can it be continued to find a solution? I would not hold my breath.
