Great thought! Many men, many minds! I do not think , poor people get any meat except during these eids. Bad strategic planning, may or may not be, as per each persons perceptions, but this is what we are asked to do to remember our great prophet Ibrahim AS (Abraham PBUH). We hear and we obey; that's what is the best character of a good Muslim; not think of worldly, changing, opinions. After all this environment and the universe itself is created and managed by God. Who are we to question? FYI, most people also celebrate this eid with lambs and camels, etc.

Slaughtering millions of animals in a single day and consume their meat in a week is a very poor strategic thinking. Do you really please a God with chemically induced fatty animal? That was my point but then again, how do we convince people who rather eat one good meal in a day and then go on begging rest of the year.
