Hasan Mashud Chowdhury is renowned for his honest and patriotic life. We have yet to see any politician have the guts to really come out and call him corrupt. Mahmudur Rahman of BNP - a very bright young fellow - has the guts to say Hasan Mashud Chowdhury was a thief but he didn't have the guts to make a single complaint about his BNP colleagues. He alleged corruption by Hasan Mashud Chowdhury but he knew for a fact about the corruption of BNP leaders - and he kept silent.
If the word anti corruption exists as a fact in Bangladesh it is only becasue of Hasan Mashud Chowdhury. If we dream of the possibility of anti corruption policies it is only because of Hasan Mashud Chowdhury. If we think for a second that maybe no one in Bangladesh is above the law it is only because of Hasan Mashud Chowdhury. If courage and conviction can be expected in public service in
Bangladesh it is only because of Hasan Mashud Chowdhury.
Hasan Mashud Chowdhury will get a medal in heaven from Mujib and from Zia. Those who allege corruption against Hasan Mashud Chowdhury invariably keep quiet about the corruption of their own politcial party.
Hasan Mashud Chowdhury deserves a good rest. He should watch, and laugh, as Awami League and BNP talk big about anti corruption. Nothing quite as hilarious as watching democracy in action in Bangladesh.
