At that time she claimed that her late husband left an FDR worth over a hundred thousand taka (I don't recall the exact amount) - it grew over a crore in 26 years. Previously she also mentioned that Late Ziaur Rahman left her two pieces of land in Greater Dhaka. So she was lying in her income tax return/ wealth statement year after year which is punishable under law. Also in 1981 she had hidden the facts to receive two houses worth crores, 1 million taka (big amount during that time), monthly allowance, pay for guards, sweeper, driver etc and a car with fuel and maintenace. First she was offered the house in the cantonment - she declared her intention to convert it to Zia-Smriti Museum (did she? I don't want to talk about what people say about Mosaddek Falu or how Bangabandhu saved her marriage). She was offered a house on 16-katha plot in Gulshan, she did not like it (too small?), then she was given a house on 31-katha plot. She was suppossed to vacate it when she moved to the Gulshan house. She never did - and later on debauch Ershad donated it to her - is if it was his inherited property. She was almost forced to leave Bangladesh in 2007, just escaped it due to Saudi cooperation to her as Sheikh Hasina showed indomitable courage to defy the CTG's effort to keep her in exile. And BNP wants to launch a movement on this, can it claim it to be a political party?
