[ALOCHONA] Deadly Game in Bangladesh

Deadly Game in Bangladesh

Joe Fleishman
When Dhaka University teacher Anwar Hossein was arrested for an allegation of demanding restoration of the democracy he expressed his desire to talk with the media. The military backed Caretaker Government at that time rejected that proposal said "Does it ever happened that a prisoner is allowed to speak with the media?" Within a few days Professor Anwar was allowed to talk with the media. Anwar admits it was a wrong move and apologized to the nation. No one in fact believed that that was truly Prof. Anwar meant. Rather analyst described it a clear sign of torture on him and that was forced confession. Otherwise why the Caretaker Government made a 180 degree turn from their previous position?

That was one example of the many mysteries of the country. There are many peculiar and unexplained event were took place since then. Two classified tapes were made available in YouTube and sold in the open market just before the country´s parliament election.. The tapes were on the taskforce´s interrogation to the very important political figure. The available two tapes were the two most influential man of the now ruling Awami League. That tape was tried to stigmatize those VIP people including current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. This very awful event was not even investigated, never been inquired why and how secret tape was revealed. Many influential political figures were arrested from all the major political parties during the last Caretaker regime. Not any other tape from any other political party was exposed this way.

The big concern is that was the military custody and any such outburst is fully their responsibility –but their military did not feel to give an explanation on that.

After the BDR mutiny Prime Minister from now ruling Awami League went to the military headquarter. She met with the troops to comfort them. That was completely a social gathering not official and journalists were barred from that place. It was a military closed door meeting.

Surprisingly the details of that highly secured closed door meeting are now easily available in the internet! You can find it in YouTube also. But how come? Come on, this is military secret and you should not get it in YouTube. Yet this bizarre thing was happened. As usual there is no explanation from the military and no investigation as well!

The latest addition on this on going mysterious events is, the divisional investigation of BDR mutiny. Report said, military was handed over the divisional enquiry report to the Prime Minister. This is a "Classified" information and not suppose to reveal in front of the public. But this classified information became unclassified to the media without any news conference or from without any known sources. Still no clarification from the military, neither any investigation!

You must be very surprised to know this but unfortunately this is what is happening in Bangladesh. Awami League accused their opposition BNP for recruiting 30% BNP cadre in the Army when they were in the government. BNP always dismissed the allegation. But this continuing effort of discovering the country´s most classified information is raising many questions. Who are doing this? Undoubtedly some groups inside the military is doing. But why there is no appropriate investigation from any side in the military? Why repeatedly the secret information is not remaining secret? What is the intention of revealing all these secret information?

Anybody could easily understand if the military is failed to keep the secret it is quite impossible for any government to work. This is exactly happening here. Although a democratically elected government is ruling the country publicly but the government is controlled by the military like Pakistan. But unlike Pakistan, one group of the military is particularly doing politics inside the military. They forgot their own business, they are selling their party BNP inside the military. This dangerous maneuver is pushing the country in a vulnerable situation –they have little concern on that.
