Dear friends:
As I walked through the Hilton Skybridge in Houston and looked at the George Brown convention center for the last time, I was overwhelmed with emotions. Every time I think about FOBANA 2009, I cannot figure out where to begin in terms of thanking all of you or who to thank first. Let me first express my heart-warming gratitude to all of you to make this FOBANA a success.
To all the dignitaries and honorary guests, you really honored us by your presence and your humbleness. Words cannot express our gratitude to all the special guests that came from Bangladesh for this convention.
To all of our out-of town guests, let me start by saying this, "Thank you for visiting our city". I hope you enjoyed your stay in Houston, and I hope you enjoyed the show. We value your friendship and we like to continue our friendship; therefore, I urge you to keep in touch with us.
Without heartfelt and tireless efforts of our media partners and participating organization, we would not be able to accomplish what we have. I thank you from the bottom of my heart and congratulate you on a great job done.
To all artists, performers and participants, thank you for being part of this great convention. You were the star, without you everything would have been meaningless.
We are grateful to FOBANA executive committee for giving us the opportunity to be the host of 23rd FOBANA convention in Houston. We must recognize the member organizations for their contribution and support to make this convention a successful one and being part of the great organization.
To the Host Committee and all the Bangladeshis living in Houston I just want to say that I consider myself very fortunate to have friends like you. Throughout the years you have inspired me to take new challenges and you have stood by me, and I am always grateful to you. In FOBANA 2009 you supported us mentally and financially; you opened your doors for outside guests; you greeted them with open heart. Your courtesy and generosity set up an example for the rest of the Bangladeshis in North America and I thank you for that.
Despite recession and economical challenges, our sponsors' truly think that a vibrant community needs to preserve and practice its culture. Thank you so much for your generous contribution which made this event possible.
The financial Statement only list the detail breakdown of income and expenses of the event, but in my heart I know the true cost of the event is far more than what is reflected in the financial statements. Financial statements would not be able to capture all the free time you gave for this event. We could not possibly put a value to that time you were away from your family to make FOBANA 2009 a reality. To all the volunteers, I thank you for your time and effort.
Mistakes were made, and I bare all the responsibilities. We can only look forward and I look forward to working with you.
