Security For Sheikh Hasina and Family : This Is Unprecedented
Newspapers have reported that a bill ll titled "Father of the Nation's Family Members' Security Act 2009" was placed in parliament on Monday . The bill provides for life long special status and SSF security for Sheikh Hasinaand Sheikh Rehana , the daughters of the founder of tBangladesh and their children. BNP Secretary General Khandaker Delwar Hossain yesterday criticised the bill placed in parliament to ensure lifetime security for the members of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman., the founder of Bangladesh.Criticising the bill, Khandaker Delwar said, "Such law does not exist even in monarchy. There is no country in the world which has a rule that stipulates such security for someone's family on hereditary grounds."He said, "In many countries, former presidents, prime ministers or outgoing heads of the government and state get security for a specific period of time. Our leader Khaleda Zia was also the prime minister. But she is not getting proper security."
We feel that such an arrangement is unnecessary .This has no such precedence. Even though Indira Gandhi and Rajib Gandhi were killed, Sonia, Priyonka or Rahul have no such facility. In Pakistan Liaqat Ali Khan was assassinated, no such security was provided to his wife and children .Similarly no such security has been provided to wife or children or grand children of assassinated President
