| Titumir (Syed Nesar Ali Titumir) who fought for the right of ordinary people died because of the deception of rich hindus. Krishnodeb Roy, a jaminder with his people in kolkata burned a Masjid while people were doing their Friday prayer. The police didn't take any action against Roy. Roy attacked muslims twice and allured English to attack Titumir's force. When the English commander Colonel Stuart aksed Ramchandra to tell Titumir 'Tell Titumir, to surrender as I have come from lord Bentinck'. Instead Ramchandra conveyed to Titumir 'You are doing the right thing by fighting against company. Now hold your sword'. Titumir replied ' I haven't fought against the English. I am fighting against the jaminders'. Ramchandra told colonel Stuart 'Titumir says, he won't surrender. He will fight back.' As a result the English crashed the Titumir force heavily and fifty of the Titumir's followers including Titumir himself died in 1831, Nov 19th. We salute this freedom fighter who fought against the injustice. |
