When Soviets occupied Afghanistan, Americans financed and trained people who put up a 'resistance' against the occupation. They were called 'Mujahedeen'. Now, again, Afghanistan is occupied and resistance is going on. Who is financing and training these people ?? What are they called now?? Are they 'Mujahedeen' ? If not, why not ?? Dr Abu Sayeed

By By Mushtaq Paracha | | NOWSHERA: Former chief of the Jamaat-e-Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmed on Sunday condemned the suicide bombings, drone attacks and alliance with the US , saying the rulers should review the foreign policy to put an end to the violence and uncertainty in the country.
"Suicide attacks and violence will stop and peace will return the day the government ends its alliance with the US and adopts an independent foreign policy to protect our national interest," the JI leader told a seminar on national security here.
Maulana Muhammad Tayyab, Maulana Anwarul Haq, Maulana Altaf-ur-Rehman and JI district chief Asif Luqman Qazi also addressed the seminar. Qazi Hussain said that killing of innocent people through suicide and drone attacks was un-Islamic and against the teachings of Islam.
He predicted that the US and its Nato allies would face a defeat in Afghanistan and the country would prove a graveyard for the occupation forces like the former USSR . He advised the government to review its foreign policy and part ways with the US . "The US is hatching conspiracies to destabilise Pakistan along with India and Israel ," he added.
Qazi Hussain condemned the US drone attacks in Pakistan and termed it an aggression on the sovereignty of the country. "The sleuths of various US intelligence agencies are roaming freely in all the cities of Pakistan and arresting innocent citizens but the rulers have adopted an indifferent attitude towards the issue," he alleged. | | | |
