RE: Invasion of privacy
Electronic and postal monitoring has been going on for many generations in UK. Most of it has been carried out without any legal authority by the national intelligence agencies, including the police. Even Ministers have been kept under electronic surveillance. Prime Minister Harold Wilson was always under the security services radar as he was considered a security risk as a possible KGB mole.
The Americans monitor all electronic communications globally, and that includes military communications in Bangladesh and elsewhere. Similar monitoring systems are being implemented by China, Russia, Germany...
Dhaka intellectuals and media have a very limited understanding of the world. I am sorry to say that most of them have been misguided by reading bits of reports by lofty but misleading British run Amnesty International, American run Human Rights Watch, French run....., German run...... Above all misleading British government run BBC (the BBC World Service is run from the British equivalent of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs!) keeps pumping out ideals to Bangladesh which their own nation disregards in its national interest. They lecture Bangladesh endlessly. But you may have noticed how they are having to be more careful with other Asian, Latin American and African nations.
I urge Bangladesh not to continue to parrot text book ethics. The world's rich and powerful individuals, corporations and nations would be utter failures if they followed Dhaka's clever intellectuals!
