Assalamu Alaikum.I would not join this acrimonious discussion.
However , I want to say that various categories of people including diplomats took copies of Quran from me, read it, preserved it.Quran is the best selling book in many countries including Russia ( at one time according to News Week).A lady Sanskrit Professor of Dhaka once told me that Indian Hindus read Quran in great numbers.
A Dhaka publisher who joined Kolkata book fair told me that Quran and Islamic books are in great demand among all sections of people there.
