[ALOCHONA] Ibrahim’s death shrouded in mystery

It's a planned murder: wife

Juba League leader Mohammad Ibrahim Ahmed, who was brought dead at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Friday night, was murdered in a planned way, his wife Rina Akhter claimed on Saturday.
Talking to reporters at her Topkhana Road residence, she said her husband had gone to the residence of ruling party parliament member Nurunnabi Chowdhury Shaon for Iftar.
'His mobile phone was on till the Iftar time, but was found switched off after the Iftar. Later some unknown people called her over cell phone and informed that he was lying dead at DMCH. That mobile is also switched off since then,' she added.

However, Shaon's driver Kamal Hossain on Saturday filed a case of unnatural death with Sher-e-Banglanagar thana stating that Ibrahim was handling Shahon's pistol and was killed in an accidental shot from it.
Ibrahim's wife Rina Akhter, also a leader of Mahila Awami League local unit, said she did not know any details of the case and nobody had informed her about it.

'Ibrahim was preparing to contest the local ward councilor election and had received a number of death threats. A general diary had been filed following the threats… Ibrahim's death is mysterious,' she added.
She said the family would soon file a case in this connection.
Sher-e-Banglanagar thana officer-in-charge Reazuddin said police was trying to seize Shaon's pistol. 'A case of unnatural death has been filed. The section of the case may be changed if needed,' he added.
The plaintiff of the case Kamal Hossain and the parliament member Shaon however could not be contacted even after several attempts over cell phone.

Ibrahim's body was buried at his village home at Pubail in Gazipur on Saturday afternoon.
Ibrahim Ahmed, 40, son of Mohammad Saleh Ahmed, and a resident of 26 Topkhana Road, was brought dead to Dhaka Medical College Hospital at about 8:45pm.
A bullet pierced the left side of Ibrahim's face and came out through the skull, Shabagh police chief Rezaul Karim said on Friday evening, adding that soon after the body was taken to the emergency unit of DMCH, the duty physician declared him dead.

Some people had brought the body of Ibrahim to DMCH by a microbus and left it at the hospital premises, hospital sources said.
Ibrahim, an activist of the Ward 56 unit of Awami League, was an aspirant for the post of councillor in the next DCC polls, Mohammad Masum, younger brother of the victim said.
