Driver, guard beaten dead as train kills 5 Khaleda supporters

An angry mob beat the driver and the guard of a train to death as five people were killed on Monday afternoon after it ploughed through a crowd of supporters of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in Sirajganj.
Around 10 other people were injured.
The incident occurred when a Dhaka-bound train from Dinajpur was crossing Sayedabad area on the west side of the Bangabandhu Multipurpose Bridge.
The crowd gathered there to attend a rally of the opposition leader, reports our staff correspondent who is travelling with the former prime minister.
Details about the incident could not be known immediately till filing of the report at 4:10pm.
