Chhatra Dal violence
Madaripur, Feb 17 (bdnews24.com) — A clash between two rival factions of Madaripur district unit of Chhatra Dal—the student front of opposition BNP—left one killed and 10 others injured. The clash occurred around 8:30pm on Wednesday on a dispute over the newly formed committee of the unit, the party insiders said.
The deceased, Parvez Khan, 25, hailed from Panichhatra village, police said.
District BNP Chhatra Dal organising secretary Zaminur Hossain Mithu said Chhatra Dal leaders and activists had brought out a procession from the town's Old Bus Stand on Tuesday night celebrating the declaration of the new committee. He said the clash erupted as a rival faction, led by Mizanur Rahman Shikder and Fakruzzaman Faku, took out a counter-procession to protest the new committee.
The clash left at least 10 others critically injured.
