[ALOCHONA] Re: [Alapon] Breaking News: Yunus disputes Grameen sacking

There are many smarty pants academics in the US who are diehard AL supporters but who neither profess such loyalty but who rather pretend to be neutral academics. The truth is that they can never take a united stand against injustice and corruption committed by an AL government, nor quibble about their vaunted 'law of the land' when their party's interests are at stake. They pretend it is a legal issue when they know only to well it is an issue created out of jealousy, vindictiveness and ignorance. Fortunately, their children will not follow in their footsteps.

I was surfing channels while driving and suddenly stopped after hearing the name of Dr. Yunus and&nbsp;micro credit/Grameen Bank. The NPR was broadcasting the gruesome reports of hundreds of suicides among the people who borrowed money from micro credit lenders. It broke my heart right there. What an irony!</span><span style="font-size: 10.0pt;"></span></div></div><div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 10.0pt;">&nbsp;</span></div></div><div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; color: #00407f;">With that said, I still believe that Dr. Yunus is an international icon and he has noble intentions. He has made a great stride in changing the lives of the poor. But, he still has a long way to go in making&nbsp;micro credit&nbsp;/grameen bank a sustainable economic model for the poor. He needs to make lots of sacrifices including find out the ways to reduce the interest rate &nbsp;so that the poor &nbsp;can afford it and they don't need to sell what little they have/ hd left &nbsp;for paying the skyrocketing interest of the loan they receive from&nbsp;micro credit/Grameen Bank. Also, he needs to advocate for the development of compassionate&nbsp;mentor ships&nbsp;to borrowers. There is no doubt in my mind that Dr. Yunus is capable of doing this without breaking the rule of the law of the country.That's my wisdom of the day.</span><span style="font-size: 10.0pt;"></span></div></div><div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 10.0pt;">&nbsp;</span></div></div><div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; color: #00407f;">Thanks and regards,</span><span style="font-size: 10.0pt;"></span></div></div><div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 10.0pt;">&nbsp;</span></div></div><div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; color: #00407f;">Dr. Shaikh Abu Hossain</span><span style="font-size: 10.0pt;"></span></div></div><div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; color: #00407f;">Cincinnati, Ohio</span><span style="font-size: 10.0pt;"></span></div></div><div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 10.0pt;">&nbsp;&nbsp;</span></div></div><div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; color: black;">&nbsp;</span></div><div style="border-left: solid #1010FF 1.5pt;"><div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; color: black;"><hr size="1"></span></div><div class="MsoNormal"><strong><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; color: black;">From:</span></strong><span style="font-size: 10.0pt; color: black;"> "anis.ahmed@..." &lt;anis.ahmed@...&gt;<br><strong>To:</strong> ovimot@yahoogroups.com; notun_bangladesh@yahoogroups.com; Diagnose@yahoogroups.com; alapon@yahoogroups.com; alochona@yahoogroups.com; sonarbangladesh@yahoogroups.com; Bangladesh-Zindabad@yahoogroups.com; bangla-vision@yahoogroups.com; WideMinds@yahoogroups.com<br><strong>Sent:</strong> Wed, March 2, 2011 11:15:09 AM<br><strong>Subject:</strong> [Alapon] Breaking News: Yunus disputes Grameen sacking<br></span><span style="color: black;"><br>&nbsp; </span></div><div id="ygrp-text"><h1><span style="color: black;">Bangladesh: Muhammad Yunus disputes Grameen sacking: BBC</span></h1><div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="color: black;">Prof Yunus and the Bangladeshi government have increasingly been at loggerheads</span></div></div><div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="color: black;"><a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-12619580#story_continues_1" target="_blank">Continue reading the main story</a></span></div></div><div><div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 14.0pt; color: black;"><a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-12619580" target="_blank">http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-12619580</a></span><span style="color: black;"></span></div></div></div><h2><span style="color: black;">Related Stories</span></h2><div><ul type="disc"><li class="MsoNormal" style="color: black;"><a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-south-asia-11901625" target="_blank">Profile: 'World banker to the poor'</a> </li><li class="MsoNormal" style="color: black;"><a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-12292108" target="_blank">Micro-loans 'helped 10 million'</a> </li><li class="MsoNormal" style="color: black;"><a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-11664632" target="_blank">Microcredit 'death trap' for Bangladesh's poor</a> </li></ul></div><div id="story_continues_1"><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 13.5pt; color: black;">"Bangladeshi Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus has said that he will fight attempts to remove him from the Grameen microfinance bank which he founded"</span><span style="color: black;"></span></div></div><div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 13.5pt; color: black;">&nbsp;</span><span style="color: black;"></span></div></div><div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size: 13.5pt; color: black;">More: </span><span style="font-size: 14.0pt; color: black;"><a href="http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-12619580" target="_blank">http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-12619580</a></span><span style="color: black;"></span></div></div></div></div></div></div><div class="MsoNormal"><br><br><br><br></div><div><div class="MsoNormal"><span style="color: white;"></span></div></div></div>NOTICE: This e-mail correspondence is subject to Public Records Law and may be disclosed to third parties.</div></div><!--~-|**|PrettyHtmlStart|**|-~--><div style="color: #fff; height: 0;"></div><!--~-|**|PrettyHtmlEnd|**|-~--><!--~-|**|PrettyHtmlStart|**|-~--><!--~-|**|PrettyHtmlEnd|**|-~--><!-- end group email --></html>
