Osama bin Laden is definitely dead but not the curse of ignorance the
Muslims are carrying with them. Pakistani suicide bombers have
partially revenged his death by killing 80 of their own. Anybody is
saying anything on this mass murder of the Muslims by a group of
extremist Muslims? From the pulpits of the mosques around the world
the imams are asking the congregations to curse America for killing
bin Laden but meticulously ignoring these mass murders in Iraq,
Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria and other Muslim nations. What happened
to the so called Islamic compassion? Where are those Muslim scholars
from Mecca and Al Azhar University who claim to be guardians of the
Islamic faith? Did anyone dared to go to Iraq to challenge those
marauders who killed thousands of innocents on the streets, shops,
bazaars, in the mosques and shrines or to Afghanistan and Pakistan to
stop those killers who are killing in the name of Islam? Does this
behavior not proving that they are also a party to these killings?
A death sentence was declared on Salman Rushdie who composed a satire
on Muhammad which brought millions of Muslims on the street, the
Danish cartoonist of Muhammad became a trophy winning killing subject
but anyone came out on the streets to condemn these Muslim killers who
are killing the innocents? This lethal brew of ignorance and
hypocrisy has demonized Islam as a faith.
I don't understand why unworthy matters inflames Muslims but not the
real tragedies. Take the case of Salman Rushdie and his satire about
Muhammad. What difference it makes to the standing of Muhammad as a
prophet? The reality is that he was a man of pre medieval pagan Arab
tribal society. The tradition of multiple marriages was a tradition of
his time and he just followed the norms of the society of his times.
There was nothing heavenly or holy about it. Now about the cartoons
about him was nothing but a funny exposition of a person. Muslims
could just ignore this with disgust and indignation rather than coming
out on the streets in millions in a very ugly manner. This did not
help the over all image of Islam in anyway.
The fact is that Islam has been hijacked by a wild and utterly
ignorant pack of mullahs. Islam is so deeply bogged down in the past
that it has closed all the avenues to negotiate with the changing
times. Any faith that declines to accept transformations will be
rejected by the posterity. An ideology survives in its essence only
not in its dogmas. The ideals of the French Revolution of 1789 are
still alive but the fearsome culture of guillotine has long vanished.
Islam is in a quagmire of contradictions which must be analyzed with a
pragmatic mind. In the realm of intellectual business blind faith is
not an acceptable commodity. The ultimate survival of Islam depending
on its ability to accept changes and walk along with time. In this
century if a suicide bomber is hailed as a hero this is preposterous
and liable to be condemned universally. Muslims will never be able to
earn respect and dignity in the non Muslim world if they continue to
worship ignorance.
