RE: [mukto-mona] Please read this touchy blog post of Dr Puspita--we have to fighy poverty, particularly save the street children

You may call this an advice from a friend. I like you personally, and I have no stake in this game. I am not a politician; all I want is - what is good for the country, and what I am witnessing is not good.

When you say – Khaleda good - Hashina bad or BNP/Jamat good - Awami League bad, day-in and day-out, what you are doing is painting yourself as partisan communicators. When you do that – you lose your credibility as a communicator. After that - even if you make a valid point, no one wants to believe you. Some of those points you are making are quite valid, but when your credibility is in question, your message gets lost.

We know Bangladesh is one of the poorest country in the world, and there are thousands of such heart-breaking stories, like the one Dr. Pushpa (I doubt it's a genuine name) has painted in her article. To tell you the truth, I could not read it; it is too painful to read. But, if you blame Awami League for that and want to accuse AL for not lifting Bangladesh from the poorest nation status, when your party was in power, to the prosperous one in a few years of Awami League tenure, it becomes a political rhetoric.

As a political bystander, I will say this much to you, what BNP/Jamat is doing in Bangladesh is totally destructive politics. If you really love your country, above and beyond your hunger for power, you could not have taken those steps.

Tell me, Mr. Mohiuddin and Mr. Hannan, why you want to bring down a government during the mid-term of their tenure through demonstrations, when you have a democratic process available to do so in a few years; can't you wait for a few more years for the next election to take over power through peoples' verdict? Bangladesh has a pretty good functioning democratic system, and the next election is not very far. Try to motivate people through proper communications, not demonstrations. How can a government do anything good for the people, when the opposition is hell-bent to create obstacles after obstacles on their way with destructive politics? You are not living in a dictatorship, like many middle-eastern countries. You can rest assure - when you go to power through demonstration, you will be taken out off power through demonstration also. It's a viscious circle.

Please don't tell me, you are not being treated properly by the ruling party. You were not saints when you were in power either. Do you still remember what happened after your party's election victory in 2001? You were victor then, you should have been humble and gracious to people. Instead your people unleashed vindictive venoms on opposition, and on innocent religious minorities in the country. It was a living hell on earth. That was totally necessary. How do you justify that action?

Please don't take it otherwise; it is my personal view as a public observer.

Thanks.

Jiten Roy
