By the way, Mr. Hannan, what happened to that web site which promoted with a fan-fare six years ago, and where you reigned as the supreme Macho facilitator of a bunch of cuties all dolled up in very thought-provoking, imaginatively designed hijabs? I never found it upon an attempt to re-visit its glory.

বিখ্যাত প্রতিষ্ঠান বাটা গত ১৪ অক্টোবর তাদের নতুন জুতোর প্রদর্শনীর আয়োজন করেছিল ঢাকা বসুন্ধরা সেন্টারে। পুরুষ-মহিলা উভয়ের জুতা প্রদর্শন করা হয়েছে। পুরুষ-মহিলা উভয় রকম মডেলও ছিল। কিন্তু উভয়ের পোষাক সিলেকশান ব্যাতিক্রম। অর্ধউলঙ্গ পোষাক পরানো হলো মেয়েদের, আর পুরুষরা পরলো লম্বা জিন্স।
বাংলাদেশের বৃহত্তর নারী সমাজের পোষাক কি এরকম? কিছু মেয়ে এরকম পোষাক পরলেও সংখ্যা খুব কম ও সীমিত পরিমন্ডলে পরে থাকে। অথচ জুতা প্রদর্শনীর মাধ্যমে যেন বুঝানো হচ্ছে এসবই নারীর স্বাভাবিক পোষাক। কিন্তু তা নয়। তাহলে কি বুঝানো হলো এর মাধ্যমে? এ জুতো পরলে এসব পোষাক পরতে হবে নাকি এসব পোষাক পরলে এ জুতো পরা যাবে?
আদিম যুগে নাকি পোষাকের প্রচলন ছিলনা। এখনো আমাজন সহ বিভিন্ন গহীন বনে জঙ্গলে যারা বাস করে তাদের ভিতর পোষাক ব্যবহারের পরিমাণ খুব সীমিত। তাদের পোষাকের ধরন দেখে বুঝা যায় সেখানে সভ্যতার আলো এখনো পৌঁছেনি।
কিন্তু্ আশ্চর্যজনক ভাবে আধুনিকতা ও সভ্যতার নাম দিয়ে আমরা যেন সেই আমাজনের গহীন অরণ্যের মানুষগুলোর দিকে ফিরে যাচ্ছি। অথচ আমরা বলি তারা এখনো সভ্য নয়। তাহলে আমরা কেন সভ্যতার নামে সেই আদিম যুগে ফিরে যাচ্ছি?
নাকি এসব পুরুষের ভোগবাদী মানসিকতার প্রতিফলন? যে কোন উপলক্ষকে কেন্দ্র করে নারীকে উম্মূক্ত করার সুযোগ নিতে হবে। জুতা প্রদর্শনীতে পুরুষ পরলো লম্বা পোষাক আর নারীকে পরানো হলো অর্ধউলঙ্গ পোষাক!
এসব অসভ্যতা নাকি ভোগবাদী মানসিকতা?
