Re: [mukto-mona] Fw: Hindu Deities demolished at Serajdi Khan Upazila of Munshigonj district of Bangladesh on 21.01.2012

I was really intrigued with the propaganda that Hasina went to Gholam Azam to get his blessings. Now I feel better. I want to add a couple of more things to the your list.

4. Previously AL had chosen president of the country from non-Awami leaguers. BNP never did that. Looks like AL has now learnt from BNP.
5. AL is too fair compared to BNP. If BNP wants to eliminate some one, it will do it as fast as they can. AL believes in tranparency. Think about the trial of the killers of Mujib. The whole nation is waiting to see what happens with the 1971 war criminals.

I
Justice Badrul Haider Chowdhury went to Golam Azam for his blessings in 1991. Badrul Haider Chowdhury was a presidential candidate against Abdur Rahman Biswas. He was supported by Awami League and other opposition MPs excluding Rashed Khan Menon (he abstained from voting probably because Biswas was his brother-in-law). He was never a member or leader of Awami League. Jamat was using the situation and was playing with it pretending they were not comitted yet. Justice Chowdhury became little bit greedy :-)

Hasina's opponents use this incident and parallel movement on care-taker issue as Awami League's intimacy with Jamaat.

BTW, Justice Shahabuddin became the president in 1996 with Awami League support, does that mean he was a member or leader of Awami League?

Even Sheikh Hasina's enemies admit that she will not bow to any leader in Bangladesh (yes BNP-Jamat complains that show is an Indian stooge and licks their feet).

Among many problems of Awami League I identify the following among many:

1. AL is extremely weak in 'prochar' - they can not highlight their real achievements strongly. The generally 'under-do' it. And some AL supporters over-do and they do it in a very inefficient way. There are some examples in this forum too (Dr. Majid indirectly pointed this out once)

2. They tend to open too many fronts at the same time, and later on have difficulty in handling some of it.

3. They easily antagonize some powerful force (Dr. Yunus episode is a classic example - I have a suspicion that stopping Padma Bridge loan is a result of this, I can substantiate little bit, but there is no need to do that.

4. Awami League do not know how to handle journalists (lot of people know about why Shaifq Rehman went against AL, he is  a crook no doubt but he can influence mass people). AL need to study Chanakya more seriously. Prtom Al and Daily Star always exaggerates any negative aspect of AL, they are like vultures, in 2009 they were in bad shape and AL should have made peace with Moti-bhai. Ex-communists once they dump their ideology can be bought out very easily.

I do not want to keep on singing 'dhan bhante shiber geet' anymore.

Some AL leaders went to suck up war criminal Gholam Azam does not make him an angel. Why do you think I am an Awami Leaguer and I blindly supported what they did. Obviously that was a wrong game they played. Power politics can go so low!

Sri Subimol,

Criticizing Awami League by  any Awami lover like you is unthinkable. Do you know there was time when Awami League demonstrated jointly with Hasina;s Awami League against BNP government. Even some senior Awami leaguers went to Golam Azam for his blessings. That's part of history we can't change. Now that Jamatis are associated with BNP all BALists are  croticizing Golam Azam. When Golam Azam does 'Jugopod Andolon' jointly  with Awami League, Golam Azam becomes Dhoa Tulshi Pata.

Why do you think so! I know you will never criticize Gholam Azam even though he is a war criminal. You will not Khaleda Zia either although during her time (2001) there a big time Hindu persecution. I am not that kind of political animal who supports every thing blindly. Sent from my iPhone

  • I will not be surprised if people belonging to AL are doing it. As a matter of fact, according to Dr. Barkat's research, AL and BNP almost equally share abandoned property of the Hindus.
  • As a political party AL is much more progressive than BNP. (Please let me know if you have any points against what I am saying.) That makes me guess that it is being done by BNP-Jamaat alliance or a small but rising Islamic fanatic organization.
  • Advocate Ghosh may want to tell us more about it.

Mr. Subimol,

You guys don't believe the fact that ,Awami terrorists and golden boys of Hasina could of  be involved in the  destruction of Deities.
Still blaming BNP/Jamat for destruction of Hindu  Deities.
You always find so called 'sabotage' formula  to protect Awami terrorists well backed by the Hasina regime. ---------- Original Message ---------- From: subimal chakrabarty <subimal@yahoo.com> To: "mukto-mona@yahoogroups.com" <mukto-mona@yahoogroups.com> Subject: Re: [mukto-mona] Fw: Hindu Deities demolished at Serajdi Khan Upazila of Munshigonj district of Bangladesh on 21.01.2012 Date: Tue, 7 Feb 2012 20:13:11 -0800 (PST)

  • Here you go. You have given three broad reasons: persecution of Hindus, political reasons, and religious hatred. In very rare cases will the perpetrator do it to go to paradise.
  • I remember in 1972 in the very Dhaka city, a couple of Durga pratimas were ransacked. It was probably a sabotage aimed at making AL unpopular. So the reason seemed to be political. Actually I do not clearly remember other explanations.
  • Advocate Rabindra Ghosh should be able to tell us actually what is happening in Chormordon. It is not unlikely that a fanatic Islamic group is doing it. Or it may be a political pressure on the local Hindus by BNP-Jamaat alliance for not supporting AL.

The destruction of deity is one the tools of persecution of Hindus. But, it has been used mostly out of religious hatred and political purposes. First time I saw such incident right after the independence in 1972, in which perpetrators entered into a temple during an ongoing religious festivity, and ransacked it, desecrated deities, and scattered beef throughout the temple right in front of devotees. I did not witness such incident during the Pakistani regime. At that time, I came to the conclusion that - it was due to religious hatred, arising from fanatical people out of their existential threats, which they never felt during the Pakistani regime. The religious fanatics are again facing such existential threats right now. Many more similar actions may ensue in the future….

Unfortunately, destruction of deity is sanctioned by religion, as Dr. Das has pointed out. Fortunately, 99% people in Bangladesh reject it, and they don't support religious fanaticism. As a result, military coup is the only avenue that is open to them to get the helm of Bangladesh. In order to create that ground, they need to destabilize country's law and order. They will try anything to do so. In the recent attempt, they failed. They need to wait for the next BNP rule. That will facilitate the golden opportunity, which will be the end of Bangladesh, as we know; Sharia Law will become the law of the land, and Bangla will become the Afghanistan, as they dream. The history will tell the rest ….

Children of Abraham are assured of their place in heaven for such deeds.  Hence they ruin the icons of other religions.
