Re: [mukto-mona] Allama "Mashriqi’s role eulogized"

I have been wondering for quite a while, how/why did cow slaughtering become a like a religious ritual for the Muslims in the Indian sub-continent? I could not find any answer from my readings. I asked that question in this forum also, for anyone to answer if they knew it. So far I have not gotten any answer.

I know, most Muslims are too religious, which would keep their underclass status in the world for a long time. I do not have much sympathy for that, because a complaining underclass, which is likely to turn into a majority in the world, can not be good for peace on Earth. I do not like a lot of things in their holy books that they want to follow literally. However, cow slaughtering is not even a religious requirement for them; yet it has become like a religious ritual.

With no external answer to my question, the logical answer that comes in my mind is that it probably was due to the Muslim attempt of proving that they were far from being Hindu. Thus, the animal that Hindus worshipped had to be slaughtered by the Muslims with fanfare.

Whatever the real reason behind the cow-slaughtering ritual, I have no doubt that at least a portion of the Hindu-hating mindset of the Muslims has its origin in the Hindu caste system. The so-called low-caste Hindus were treated like sub-humans by the so-called high-caste Hindus. Conversion of a low-caste Hindu to Islam was like a slave finding a territory where he is a free man, irrespective of whether Islam was otherwise a great religion or not. Even after that conversion, he was treated like a sub-human by the so-called high-caste Hindus. Thus, while he found a comfortable zone among the Muslims, his mind remained disgusted with the Hindus. For the so-called high-caste Hindus, he had hatred; for the so-called low-caste Hindus, he had pity.

Does this sound like the British colonialism? Blaming the British Colonial Rule, the Americans, and the Western Imperialism for all the woes of the subcontinent has been a poor-quality fashion for many intellectuals of the sub-continent. I think we need to look at the faults of ourselves and our forefathers more honestly and critically, for real progress in our sub-continent.

Good points. I am more inclined to believe that Hindu-Muslim communalism was a 'gift' from our British colonial masters.

Yes, this is a serious point. The communal hatred was first brought into the Indian society by the higher caste Hindus through their discriminatory practices towards Muslims and the lower caste Hindus, which ultimately divided India. In fact, Pakistan may not be created without the support of the lower caste Hindus.
As you know, the birth of Pakistan has broken so many families and communities apart. Pakistani administrations knew that, and they also knew that - they will need high level of communal hatred against India to keep those families and communities apart.  As a result, they have been brainwashing their people to keep communality alive in Pakistan. If the level of hatred is reduced someday, those countries (Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan) may become confederate states.
My observation is that - Hindu-Muslims hatred, in the Indo-Pak-Bangladesh subcontinent, is now much more prominent than that of the undivided India. But, the level of hatred between Hindus and non-Muslims (Sikh, Buddhists, Christians, Jews, etc.) did not change as much from the undivided Indian period. These facts lend support for my point of view.
In fact, the Israel and Palestinian story is similar. A sovereign Palestinian state, created  through communality,  will not bring peace in that region also. The hatred and suffering will keep rising. Permanent peace cannot be attained through hatred. The best option, therefore, is amicable confederation also.
