Dear Sirs,

Assalamu Alaikum.My student asked me whether in the light of verses of Sura Araf,verse 26 and 27, it is proper to  put shirt inside pant in public, whether this is against decency? He also mentioned that Ulama never do it and Muslim  men do not like women or girls doing so.

I replied as follows---

"In my view it is better not to put shirt inside trouser or pant. Then, the shape of private parts become clear which is against decency and Islamic spirit of HayaThe two Ayats say that dress is for beautification and for covering private parts. The verses also say Shaitan wants to expose our body. The spirit of Ayats demand that our private parts are loosely covered, dresses should not be tight and transparent All these prove that dress should be a bit long and can be Punjabis, sherwanis, long shirts which double cover our private parts.

If we do not like women putting Kameez inside their pant or trouser, we men should do the same."
