These are basically bogus excuses. If majority really felt sorry for this and other previous attrocities , they should have organized their own protest marches than waiting to be invited by 'powerful' Unity council . Needless to say Unity council people are the victims and discriminated by majority population and that is why they formed that organization. They have basically no power or clout to discriminate the majority Muslim population, period! That is very odd and laughable statement as if we need more affirmative actions for Muslims in Bangladesh? No, I do not buy such stupid argument.

Yes I fully agree. I think majority of Muslim population felt sick watching what has taken place in Ramu. This is against our national heritage of communal harmony and spirit of Bangladesh.
But this group always fails to include Muslims in their protest and because of it, it is less effective.
Time and again common people of Bangladesh strongly protested against such violence in our country but for some strange reason, the protest from "Unity council" discriminate against Muslim Bangladeshis by not including them in such "Protests".
Are we protesting against the violence here or against religion?

Protest is perfect against such act. But why not Muslims are included in the protest. All Muslims in Bangladesh strongly oppose those ill-acts. কক্সবাজার ও চট্টগ্রামে বৌদ্ধ বিহার, বসতিতে সহিংস হামলার ঘটনায় বোস্টনে বিক্ষোভ সমাবেশসোমবার, ০৮ অক্টোবর ২০১২ সুহাস বড়ুয়া : বোস্টন থেকে : - কক্সবাজার ও চট্টগ্রামের বৌদ্ধ বিহার, বৌদ্ধদের ব্যবসা প্রতিস্ঠান ও বসতিতে হামলা লুটপাট ও অগ্নিসংযোগের ঘটনায় বিশেষ ট্রাইব্যুনাল গঠন করে দোষীদের দৃষ্টান্তমূলক শাস্তির দাবি জানিয়েছেন বোস্টন প্রবাসী হিন্দু, বৌদ্ধ ও ক্রিস্টান সম্প্রদায়ের নেতারা। সেইসঙ্গে বাংলাদেশের বৌদ্ধ ধর্মাবলম্বীদের নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিতে বিশেষ আইন প্রণয়ন এবং ধ্বংস করে দেয়া শত শত বছরের প্রচীন ও ঐতিহ্যবাহী বৌদ্ধ বিহারগুলো সরকারি খরচে পুনর্নির্মাণ ও হামলায় ক্ষতিগ্রস্তদের ক্ষতিপূরণ দেয়ার দাবি জানায় তারা । ওই ধ্বংসযজ্ঞ ও হামলার প্রতিবাদে শনিবার স্থানীয় সময় সকাল ১১ টা থেকে বেলা ৩টা পর্যন্ত বিশ্ব বিখ্যাত হার্ভার্ড বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের সামনে নিউ ইংল্যান্ড হিন্দু বৌদ্ধ ক্রিস্টান ঐক্য পরিষদ ও বোস্টন বাংলাদেশ বুদ্ধিস্ট এসোশিয়েশন একটি বিক্ষোভ-সমাবেশের আয়োজন করে । উল্লখ্য গত ২৯ সেপ্টেম্বর রাতে ধর্মীয় উগ্রপন্থী মুসলিম সম্প্রদায়ের বিপুল সংখ্যক লোকজন কক্সবাজারের রামুতে বৌদ্ধ মন্দির ও ঘরবাড়িতে হামলা, অগ্নিসংযোগ ও ভাংচুর চালায় । পরদিন চট্টগ্রামের পটিয়া এবং কক্সবাজারের উখিয়া ও টেকনাফেও হামলার ঘটনা ঘটে। উক্ত ঘটনার প্রতিবাদে অনুষ্ঠিত সমাবেশে মার্কিন নাগরিকসহ বাংলাদেশ বৌদ্ধ সমিতি ঢাকা অঞ্চলের সভাপতি সুহৃদ কুমার বড়ুয়া (এফ সি,এ), বোস্টন ও কানাডা প্রবাসী হিন্দু, বৌদ্ধ ও ক্রিস্টান সম্প্রদায়ের নেতারা অংশ নেন । সমাবেশে বক্তব্য রাখেন নিউ ইংল্যান্ড বাংলাদেশ হিন্দু-বৌদ্ধ-খ্রিস্টান ঐক্য পরিষদের উপদেষ্ঠা ড: বিনয় পাল, উপদেষ্ঠা ড: পল সলিল বিশ্বাস,উপদেষ্ঠা তরুণ বড়ুয়া,উপদেষ্ঠা সুবোধ বড়ুয়া ঐক্য পরিষদের সভাপতি বিশ্বজিত সাহা, সহ-সভাপতি তপন সাহা, সাধারন সম্পাদক সুহাস বড়ুয়া, সাংগঠনিক সম্পাদক রবিন দাশ, বোস্টন বাংলাদেশ বুদ্ধিস্ট এসোশিয়েশনের সভাপতি সুমিত বড়ুয়া, সাবেক সভাপতি সৌমেন্দু বড়ুয়া, কানাডা থেকে আগত বৌদ্ধ নেতা ইঞ্জিনিয়ার বিভাস চৌধুরী ও সোমা চৌধুরী, শিক্ষিকা সূক্তি ধারা বড়ুয়া, ইঞ্জিনিয়ার উজ্জ্বল বড়ুয়া, নিরুপম বড়ুয়া টুটু, কল্লোল বড়ুয়া, লিমা বড়ুয়া, ববি বড়ুয়া, শান্ত সোমা বড়ুয়া, কাঞ্চন মনি সাহা ,সামন্ত ,সান্তা দাস , অনুপম দেব, তপন কুমার সিংহ, দেবাশিস বড়ুয়া । বক্তারা দাবি করেন যে, বাংলাদেশে এ ধরনের ঘটনা নতুন নয়। ৫৫ বছর ধরেই বাংলাদেশে সংখ্যালঘুদের উপর অত্যাচার, নির্যাতন, তাদের জমি-বাড়ি দখল এবং তাদের মেয়েদের ধর্ষণ করা হচ্ছে। কিন্তু কোনো সরকারই উপযুক্ত বিচার করছে না। এ কারণে একের পর এক ঘটনা ঘটেই চলেছে। বক্তারা বলেন, ২৯ সেপ্টেম্বর সন্ধ্যায় দেড় শ'তাধিক বাস-ট্রাকে করে লোক আনা হয়েছিল রামুতে। এতগুলো বাসের ভাড়া কে দিয়েছে, গান পাউডার, পেট্রল ও হাত বোমার উত্স কোথায়" সেটি বের করতে হবে।" যারা এ অপকর্মের নেপথ্য সংগঠক তাদেরকে গ্রেপ্তার করে দৃষ্টান্ত মূলক শাস্তি নিশ্চিত করলেই বৌদ্ধ সম্প্রদায়ের নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত হবে। বৌদ্ধ সম্প্রদায়ের সর্বশেষ পরিস্থিতি সরেজমিন দেখতে প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার রামুর ঘটনাস্থল পরিদর্শনে যাওয়ার সংবাদে স্বস্তি প্রকাশ করে বক্তারা বলেন, তারা ওই হামলার ঘটনা নিয়ে সরকার ও বিরোধী দলের কোন ধরনের রাজনীতি দেখতে চান না। তারা আসল খুনি ও দোষীদের বিচার চান। বিক্ষোভ সমাবেশ থেকে 'হেইট ক্রাইম বিল' পাশের জোর দাবি জানানো হয়।বাংলাদেশের বৌদ্ধ সম্প্রদায়ের প্রতি সহমর্মিতা প্রকাশ করে বেশ কয়েকজন মার্কিন নাগরিকও বক্তব্য রাখেন । বিক্ষোভ সমাবেশে বোস্টন প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশী সংখ্যালঘু সম্প্রদায়ের উল্লেখযোগ্য সংখ্যক লোকজন অংশ নেন । http://bostonbanglanews.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=15943:2012-10-08-13-53-04&catid=73:2010-10-18-09-37-02&Itemid=158 |
