I like this post very much. It tells a lot. This is what keeps me wondering why people do what they do in the name of religion. People are just thinking from their selfish point of view. They are trying to make believe that they are pleasing an imaginary God at the cost of somebody else's life. This is unjustifiable act, to say the least, in my view. I heard that during my great grandfather's time – they used to sacrifice buffalo in the Durga Puja at home. They would not eat the meat; they would through the meat out for consumption by vultures and pollute the environment in a horrible way. My grandfather discontinued the practice, but, he used to use goat for sacrifices. My father totally discontinued the sacrifice from the worshipping. There was a Kali-temple, where 101 goats used to be sacrificed during the Kali-puja. I have only once visited that temple as a child, and did not like what I saw. It was a barbaric act, not worshiping. I have never been there ever since. I opened NTV, and see meat vendors in open air on the foot-path selling meat. Near them I see hills of intestines on the street, generating pollution and smell, and this is being described as a festivity. What can I tell, except to say that - May God give us all good sense and wisdom. Jiten Roy
