Re: [mukto-mona] Fwd: Khaleda's India visit

I have no issues with concerns stated by Manosh babu. I was astonished to see that, daily Sangram (Generally known to be biased to Jamaat-e-Islami) given so much importance ( I think it is a good sign). Similarly if "Daily Janakontho" praises Khaleda Zia, I will be very surprised.

No matter which party comes to power, next time they have to work on implementing their election pledges. Both parties failed to deliver on their promises on various issues. We were a young nation 40 years ago and lot of crazy stuff happened. But we are young no more. We have to have more transparencies in our administrations, more serious focus on law and order situation and redesigning our infrastructure projects.

Once police, RAB and media are empowered, even BNP will not be able to abuse any political opponent at will. In fact both parties have area of opportunity to improve in this regard.

And you are right, when we fail to protect interest of our people and country, others will take advantage of us. If this continues to happen in future, we'll have only ourselves to blame. Since we spend too much time in poking each other's eyes out but don't spend enough time to improve condition of this country.

Shalom!

The concerns expressed by Manas Ghosh are not unfounded. BNP-Jamaat alliance is desperate to capture power to frustrate all the good programs including trial of war criminals undertaken by the present government. But politics is selfish and sometimes myopic. The present Indian government probably is suffering from both of these vices. As a matter of fact, Indian calculation is based on the past promises and past refusals by BNP and AL respectively. Gas, Tipaimukh , transit, etc. will be easily given by BNP, but it will be hard to get these from AL. All these potential gifts to India from BNP do not however mean that BNP will stop conspiring against India.
Coming back to power by BNP will seat Tarek Zia as the most powerful man of the country. And that will bring disaster.
What can you do? If your governance is not good to earn you a reelection, brig brothers will reap benefits out of it.

I think even "Blind BNP supporters" are a bit overwhelmed by how well BNP leader was treated by India. Again, I feel our politics, media, policy makers need to evolve for the sake of our country.

If this new approach is an indication of maturity of Indian and Bangladeshi politicians, I welcome it whole heatedly. We are neighbors and having a trusting positive relationship is in our interest. It will uplift the whole region and people in it.

As people of BD, when we discuss foreign issues, it would be nicer if we LEARN to think like "Bangladeshis" not supporters of BAL or BNP. Some maturity is needed in our parts as well.

My two cents...
