Concerns of both Ziauddin and Shahriar Kabir are justified. Both of them want trial of the war criminals. Ziauddin has opined that Kabir does constructive criticism. I cannot agree more. Shahriar Kabir is no. 1 enemy of Jamaat and BNP. He is not not in good books of AL also. AL did not proactively come forward when he was organizing a mock trial of the war criminals with Jahanara Imam in the forefront. He turned into a minority rights activist particularly after 2001 election when BNP goons engaged in persecuting the minorities to give them a lesson for voting AL. He was branded as an agent of the Indian Hindutvawadis. He was jailed and tortured inhumanly with another minority rights activist named Salim Azad. Kabir made documentary on minority persecution which BNP saw as tarnishing the non-communal image of Bangladesh.
Shahriar Kabir's concern is well founded as we can see from what is happening to the tribunal.
AL has not put all the major criminals in jail. Surely there are some in AL also. But that does not mean that Gholam and his cohorts are innocent. Clearly all of them are criminals. They need to be brought to justice. No excuses.

Thanks for sharing this article. It was important to hear from Dr. Ziauddin himself and he did plenty to clarify his position.
However I am disappointed by Shahriar Kabir. he said..

He is paranoid and goes after anyone who make think even slightly differently than him. The bottom line is majority of the people of Bangladesh wants a fair trial and want conviction of criminals.
However it is sad "Professional politicians" cannot resists to use our "Muktijuddho" to advance their own interests. Will wait to see what Mr. Shahriar Kabir gained once the dust settles.
I personally know quite a few families who lost family members. I just pray that, people don't use it as a political tool. It is a moral cause and we should focus on delivering justice here.
