People and AL activists asked to beat off Jamaat-Shibir : sure recipe for spreading inter party fighting through out the country.

Daily New Age and other newspapers have reported that leaders of the Awami League on Wednesday instructed the party activists to be on guard in every neighborhood of the capital to thwart terrorist activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir.
‘Leaders and activists of the party in all ward and thana units of Dhaka city must guard the streets along with the people to beat off
Jamaat Shibir terrors,’ Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub ul Alam Hanif said at an extended meeting of its city unit.
He alleged that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party was instigating Jamaat to carry out destructive activities to destabilise the country. ‘The politics of Jamaat will come to an end with the completion of the trial of their leaders facing war crimes charges and it will also lay bare the bankruptcy of BNP’s politics,’ said Hanif.
Home minister Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir, who also addressed the meeting at  the party office said that resisting the Jamaat-Shibir was a moral responsibility of the people and legal duty of the state and warned that the law enforcers would handle them with an iron hand.
Muhiuddin said that nobody would be spared if found involved in damaging public property. He urged the law enforcers to make sure that innocent citizens were not harassed while tackling the Jamaat-Shibir terrors.
AL city unit leader Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya warned the leaders of the party’s local units that they would have to answer if Jamaat men brought out any processions in their areas.
‘If Jamaat or Shibir brings out procession in any city ward area, the particular ward and thana unit of Awami League will be held responsible …,’ he added.
State minister for law Quamrul Islam urged the leaders and activists of the party to stay alert in every ward so that the Jamaat-Shibir and their cronies could not unleash terror in their bid to save the war criminals.

What the Awami League leaders and Home Minister have said is sure recipe for spreading inter party fighting through out the country.Mr Maya has said that ‘If Jamaat or Shibir brings out procession in any city ward area, the particular ward and thana unit of Awami League will be held responsible …,’.That means opposition party can not bring out any procession. Home Minister’s statement that resisting the Jamaat-Shibir was a moral responsibility of the people is irresponsible. Who has given the Home Minister the right to decide what is the moral responsibility of the people?

We feel that some people in Awami League are  creating a civil war like situation and also harming their party in the long term. We ask them to desist from this.
