Re: [mukto-mona] ’আর-সব ভাগ হয়ে গেলেও নজরুলকে ভ াগ করা যায় নি’

Nazrul's condition started to worsen right after Tagore's death. We are just unlucky to have that man totally gone when he would have written his best stuff. We have ignored many of our literary figures and many of them died in poverty. I do not think any institution intentionally ignored this great poet. India was just a poor country to take care of its good people. Had he born in then British Bangladesh, Nazrul would probably have become a poor farmer at best. Well, he was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

Kazi Nazrul Islam was born in a Muslim family; that was his only tie with the religion. He was neither a Muslim nor a Hindu by heart; he was a religious libertarian.  His Shyama Sangit, Kirtan, Kawali, Gazzal, etc. bear hallmarks of religious libertarianism. He was a model secular person, and a sociopolitical revolutionary.

There is no doubt that - Indian cultural/literary society purged him for unexplained reasons. His model secular personality could have been so helpful in India in promoting secularism. I hope that, Bangladesh will not make the same mistake by promoting him as a Muslim-Poet, which he was not. It will be a blatant mischaracterization of such a revered secular personality. Also, it will be a gross betrayal with his departed soul, which can no longer revolt against such injustices, as he did in all his life.

The main problem for Islamist is that they lack the brain power and intellectual confidence in public. They need Nazruls and infidels like Sharmilla Boses for their cause. Most of them are totally illiterates and smell awfully bad in public. Politically correct left and Islamist have finally found each other just to survive for another day. But, the fate has already been written on the wall!

Actually, the great humanist poet, Kazi Nazrul Islam, has been seriously abused in Bangladesh. A large segment of the Bangladeshi intelligentsia has tried to make him their Muslim poet.

The so-called secular and communist politicians of West Bengal were also too callous about this great soul. They allowed their truly humanist poet to be used, due to his disabled brain, by the Islamists of Bangladesh, led by the military dictator, Ziaur Rahman.

............ We have seen enough of Rabidra-Nazrul politics from Pakistani/ BNP and Jamat sides. Could not Monem bring Nazrul to Bangladesh to show his brotherly love for this great poet? I hate to see these kind of crocodile tears from the Islamist who suddenly need to find their own Muslim poet. If Nazrul were alive, he would hated these imbeciles from his guts.

Out of those amazing poems some will be blasphemous in nature. I don't think Islamic clerics will like them. He wrote many more "Hindu" songs than Islamic songs. Orthodox Muslim society has its own justification to boycott or denounce him.
Have we not shown due respect to Nazrul? What else could be done? Any suggestions.
