Re: [mukto-mona] A Sign of Hope for Bangladesh

I do not think religion is the real problem. As far as I can see, the religious books can stay in the libraries for us to look back at our history, and feel that we had a stupid, hateful and shameful background. If people could look at the world with their natural inquisitive mind and common sense, they would keep the fear and prayer parts of their religion at a very personal level, and ditch the 'code of life' part of their religion. The fee minds are doing these. The brainwashed idiotic minds continue to be in their cocoon of stupidity and hatred, and cause misery for themselves and for the world. So, I blame people more than religion.

I fully agree with you. I just don't understand why people get so uppity when it comes to matter of religion. I always maintained that it is the the religion, rather than the adherents of the religion, which is to blame for all the ills in our society.

Bangladesh police in the sub-district of Chuadanga have tried to protect a non-Muslim place of worship, and in the process had to kill one in a gang of Islamic hate-mongers that were vandalizing that place of worship. Killing is extreme, no doubt about that, even when the victim is a criminal. However, the impunity of religious hate-mongers in Bangladesh has been way overdue for stoppage. This, possibly the first, incident of no-nonsense measure by the police against the hate-mongers is indeed a sign of progress and hope for Bangladesh.
