Re: [mukto-mona] Fw: Hasina promoted Awami D.C. Delwar Haider

Oh, yes – there is another issue they will bring – that is - the Grameen Bank debacle. Many educated people are mad that - Bangladesh Bank wants to regulate Grameen Bank, like a regular bank. Now, why is that so bad? No one has time to think about it. You should ask yourself - do we want money laundering to be legalized in Bangladesh? If you do – go ahead join Dr. Yunus and BNP/Jamat to fight for unregulated banking privilege in Bangladesh, and make that country a part of the Cayman Islands, so that all sorts of illegal money can come into Bangladesh through those unregulated banks.

>>>>>>>>> Why do you think "Many educated people" are mad? Are they stupid because they live in Bangladesh?

Again if you want to support our current government policies, it is your right to do so. But the logic you put here is not working. Grameen Bank has been audited by multiple firms every year. On top of it many donor nations, NGOs and Universities from all corners of the world are studying/analyzing this organization. So far except minor issue (Like age of Dr. Yunus) there were not financial irregularities.

Now when you hear that, government want to "Regulate" grameen Bank there is nothing to object but once you realize that, ALL government run banks have been massively looted by criminals in recent years. This year alone government gave our 5000 croe taka as subsidy (Experts are seeking 17,000 croe taka to make government run banks functional), you realize why people are not comfortable. Our finance ministry FAILED (Supporters of all parties agree on it) in regulating and monitoring many banks. WHY do we need to give one more bank to these people?

Now once you realize not only Grameen Bank was self sustaining but it brought great honor to the country, you can honestly ask why is our government is so eager to "Regulate" another organization when it cannot even monitor/regulate government own banks?

We NEVER heard of any money laundering by Grameen? You are the first one who came up with this idea!!

Lastly, I think most Bangladeshis appreciate the fact that initially current finance minister was a great supporter of "Grameen model" and helped Dr. Yunus with supportive policies and our current PM was very supportive of Grameen organization in the past. I hope our leaders will consider what Grameen means to our country and leave it alone (At least until it can sort our pressing issues with government run banks).

It appears that many educated people in Bangladesh have become parrots;

These pictures provide the backdrop of the first topic – I want to discuss now.  Here it is - Sheikh Hashina government has interrupted/stopped food supply to Khaleda Zia's residence. As you know, BNP leadership is making it a big deal.

When I heard this allegation, I started laughing. Bunch of questions started to swirl in my mind. The first one was - is she in prison? If not, how come government was supplying her food. The next question was - why food was coming from outside the residence – whatever happened to her chefs/maids; are they on strike? The last one was – how come she doesn't know how to cook her own food?

In my view, only a Queen or a disable person could face such a situation, not a political leader, who thinks about regular and destitute people all the time. None of these make sense; please explain if anyone knows anything better.

Now, I have another question – how could second tier leaders of BNP think that the allegation of food supply shortage at Khaleda Zia's residence will generate public sympathy towards her? If anything this allegation, in my view, makes her incompetent as a peoples' leader.

Apparently that's not how most people think also. They think BNP deserve to come to power in the next election. If you ask them why they think so; they will throw some corruption cases during the tenure of this current government. But, when you ask – do you think BNP will be the corruption fighting agent the country needs now? Most people will answer – probably not.

Yes, I know - regulated banks could fail also; it happens now and then everywhere in the world. But, that does not mean - we should fight for the unregulated banking business. Many marriages fail also, are we going to fight for elimination of marriage? Regulated banking business has much better chance of preventing corruption than unregulated banking business.

It appears that many educated people in Bangladesh have become parrots; they repeat what they hear on TV screen. BNP/Jamat has the money and resources to modulate peoples' opinions. It is not a good sign, when people lose objective thinking abilities. That could lead the country to a wrong direction.
