History will judge our honorable Prime minister (It is too early to know if this was the right path or wrong path) in due time.
While NO one should support violence or threats during election time but unfortunately this became a culture of our election time. Like you I also think election is the "Proper way" of changing administration. We should do our level best to ensure a credible and fair election process is in place. Unfortunately ALL parties are interested to get to power but not willing to work on a "Credible, peaceful and fair" process.
ALL major parties should carry some blame for the situation.

Sorry to disappoint you but the whole international community (Including Some Indian press/politicians) are asking for ANOTHER "fair election". USA, Canada, Europe.... and many others.
Again it is very difficult to say in which direction our country will take in future. I would hope IF we have another election in near future, we should ensure better protection of minorities around that time. As a citizen of this country, this is part of their BASIC/FUNDAMENTAL right and our government is duty bound to ensure we do our best to take care of them.

Awami League, especially Sheikh Hashina, deserves credit for holding the election, under the impending threat of violence in the polling stations by BNP/Jamat. Voters, who came to the polling stations, risking their lives, deserve tremendous credit for upholding the democratic institution in Bangladesh. I thought no one will come to the polling center out of fear for their lives.
So, it's not important - how perfect the system was; it's important that democratic system is still alive in Bangladesh. I thought – government will declare that – election cannot be held out of voters' safety concerns. Thanks God – that did not happen; it would be a setback for the democratic institution.
I think, after a few more contiguous elections, like this, by Awami League, democratic institution will become mature in Bangladesh, and may be, by then, BNP (without Jamat) will be able to learn how to exercise democratic rights properly. The strategy to dethrone an elected government through political anarchy, is not a democratic practice, and, definitely, not in the interest of the country. Under no circumstance, that practice should be encouraged or supported; it needs to stop.
Democratic rights can be exercised only through ballots.
