| Dear Mr. Mona The people of Nepal are in desperate need of help, and our community will not let them down.  At least 7,000 people have died as a result of a massive earthquake in Nepal on April 25, and the number is expected to rise due to aftershocks and a lack of basic infrastructure to withstand even the aftereffects of a natural disaster such as this. Over 14,000 people have been injured, and the effects of the 7.8-magnitude quake have been felt as far away as India and China. This is a human tragedy of the highest proportions, and our community of humanists and skeptics will now step up to lend our support. To get aid money directly to the secular relief organizations that can have the greatest impact, the Center for Inquiry is activating its charitable program, Skeptics and Humanists Aid and Relief Efforts, better known as SHARE. 100 percent of the money collected through SHARE for Nepal will be given directly to Doctors without Borders, a secular charity that delivers emergency medical aid to those affected by conflict, epidemics, disasters, or exclusion from health care.
