Ziaur Rahman did not understand the geopolitical reality after the independence, but why - BNP still does not understand it is a mystery.
Ziaur Rahman introduced expired Muslim League ideology in BNP, without understanding the reality that this ideology expired with the independence of Bangladesh.
BNP is still banking on the same expired ideology, and that why it got engaged in smuggling truckloads of arms and ammunitions to the rebel groups in the North-Eastern Indian territories. By doing so, BNP punctured its life-vest. So, this party cannot survive in the long run.

নরেন্দ্র মোদীর সফরে গত ৭ জুন বৈঠকে কী আলোচনা হয়েছে, সে বিষয়ে এখনও মুখ খোলেননি বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসন। তিনি শুধু বলেছেন, 'ফলপ্রসূ' আলোচনা হয়েছে।
তবে ওই বৈঠকের আলোচনা নিয়ে ভারতের বিভিন্ন সংবাদপত্রের প্রতিবেদন উদ্ধৃত করে বলা যায়, "মোদীর সঙ্গে দেখা করে খালেদা বাংলাদেশে গণতন্ত্র নেই বলে নালিশ করেছেন।
