Communal or whatever we may prefer to call it, I think India cannot be called a part of the modern civilized world when so many of the states of that country ban eating beef and slaughtering cows. There should be no ban on what people choose to eat. Slaughtering cows should be permitted in state regulated hygienic facilities that are away from public views; and the state should not be in the business of caring about who buys/eats beef. The real problem in this particular murder case was not rumor-mongering; it was the Indian stupidity and injustice of making eating beef condemnable. The criminals should be prosecuted for murder, and all the bans of beef-eating should be lifted from India.

Arresting the criminals is good. But the solution to this problem would need the Indian intellectuals and leaders to educate themselves and their people to see that eating beef should be no more of a crime than eating any other kind of meat.

With Bangladesh being a jungle of wild beasts, I was asked many times by some of my family and friends to buy a house in India for retiring peacefully in my cultural environment. I have refused, as I felt, why should I go to a jungle where I was not born anyway.
I am so disgusted seeing this news. Obviously I blame the Indian intellectuals and leaders for failing to civilize themselves and their mass population.
