People have chosen their their leader and national anthem some four and half decades ago.They chose the best song that touched people' souls and went along with it. The thing is already set in the stone! People are not going to change the anthem because the defeated forces are having some allergic reactions after four decades. The looser can't be chooser!
Tagore was immensely influenced by Indian ragas and Baul tunes (special tones and notes). There are some subtle difference between Gagan Harkara and Tagore versions. Tagore version is obviously far superior in terms of lyrics and music. People who think that the two songs are exactly the same, should get the true original of Gagan Harkara's own rendition rather than a tune that has been modified over the years (200) by different singers and being sung in modern days. Gagan Hatkara never jotted down his musical notes in any notebook. So, I do see a problem with Gagan Harkara's original. If Tagore has made it a better song, I say more power to that immortal man. He is our true pride.
