Jamaat-I-Islami sowed the seed of the poison tree for Islamic terrorism in Pakistan and Bangladesh. This tree grew with many branches by manifesting in various forms including Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), Harkat Ul Jihad al Islami (HUJI), jaish e mohammed, Ansar al Islam, etc. In 1971, this poison tree was very much uprooted. In the aftermath of the killings in 1975, the successive military dictators provided nutrition and necessary ingredients for the growth of this poison tree. The prime mover Gen. Zia brought a cutting of the tree from Pakistan and planted it in independent Bangladesh. All the branches of the poison tree have been producing enough toxic fruits for consumption by the growing young jihadists in Bangladesh. I cannot agree more when someone says "if there is the existence of JI, then there is no need for ISIS to carry out the utmost savagery acts against humanity in Bangladesh".
An increasing number of liberal Muslims are showing the signs of perplexity while trying to explain or understand the appalling crimes committed by a group of very young jihadists in Holey Artesan restaurant in Gulshan, Dhaka. They probably realize that just making the statement "Islam is a religion of peace" is not sufficient enough anymore to explain all the details associated with Islamic terrorism. Of course, there were antecedents that caused a series of consequences in the name of Islamic jihad. If we examine, we find that the leaders of JI preached for establishing their utopian caliphate at every opportunity they got while speaking in front of the audiences. The young jihadists were preached and encouraged by JI leaders for taking steps to achieve the goal for establishing a caliphate in the future. They trivialize the existing systems of governments in each and every country of the world. Democracy and secularism are the isms of coercion as preached by the JI leaders. According to them, the rule under caliphate based on the revelations of Allah would only bring about the righteous conditions in the world.
By trivializing the modern secular democratic processes as bad, the Islamist leaders influence the thought processes of the gullible and vulnerable young men and women. The militant wings of JI then train them to perform savagery acts in the name of jihad for establishing Islamic caliphate. While going through Basher Kella, probably a Facebook page of Islami Shibir, I find some write-ups eulogizing Maulana Matiur Rahman Nizami. A war criminal named Nizami has been portrayed as a martyr. There is a video where Nizami was delivering a lecture to belittle different forms of governments in the world. It was not to my surprise that he was vehemently downplaying secular democracy while he was unwaveringly preaching his supporters to get involved in the Islamic revolution for establishing the euphoria of a worldwide dreamland under the future caliphate. He was predicting for many to become martyrs but predicting as well that the survivors would rule with Islamic Caliphate in power. Please watch the video.
