[mukto-mona] Re: Sex discrimination in choosing Nobel Laureates?

Choosing a person for excellence is a very difficult job. The committee propose many names, discuss and vote... as I know how things work in Stockholm. Peace prize and Economy prize are very much political whereas science prizes did not always go right people all the time. What can be done about this bias? Probably nothing because these prizes are inherently biased to some extent. Are women poor scientists? Probably not! Do they have what they need for a Nobel prize? Yes! Nobody is lobbying for them in Stockholm? Possible? However, I must say, I do not want to see affirmative action in Nobel prize distribution. That would seriously damage the institution and its prestigious value.
