· More than 40% of the country with 48 out of 64 districts was flooded this year.
· 10 million people affected with more than 300 dead
· Nearly a million houses were fully or partially destroyed
The receding flood brings the painful starvation and death in
The seating is based on first come first serve principle.
Proceeds from the show:
One Hundred percentages (100%) of the proceeds will go directly to the victims. How do we do it? We do it with the unique partnership between an alumni association (ORCA - Old Rajshahi Cadets Association) with its all volunteer force of 1500 able bodies on the ground in Bangladesh, a cultural organization (Dhroopad) that brings art, beauty and truth in multi layered, rich and vibrant form, a student association (Bengali Patriot), with access to facilities and logistical support in Virginia and a historical society (71 er Golpo) that educates and informs the new generation about our national struggle and sacrifices lest we should ever forget. Please visit our sites, http://www.dhroopad.org and http://www.orcausa.org for more information on who we are and what we do.
ORCA reached the remotest regions of the country, where it seems everyone has forgotten about those with no voices and no resources. During the aftermath of the last major flood, we built shelters for more than 200 families. We have already distributed emergency relief worth more than 10 lakh Taka to the victims. We are now rebuilding their homes and giving them an opportunity to sustain themselves with innovative programs like Rickshaw Donation and vocational trainings.
Please Note:
We plan to start the show sharp at 8:00 PM. We respectfully request all to be seated by then to help us avoid any potential disruptions during the show. Finding parking and your way to the theatre may take some time.
We thank you for your understanding and support.
