[mukto-mona] Moderator's decision to prevent the ongoing conflict in Obama issue

Dear members,

I am fed up observing the immense vituperation in our forum between
respected members. Winning a conflict by using abusing word leads to
nowhere; it means getting the outcome 'you' want regardless of what
the 'other' person believes or try to pint out. Having respect for
the opponent is much better than winning a conflict sometime. Heated
debate with abusive words makes people unhappy and can result in
antagonism which we are already watching in the forum.

We can certainly put our argument without calling the opponent `cyber
bully', `omniscient', `postures', `idiot', `audacious', `fool', `ignor
ant', `boor', `smart alecks' etc.

I understand that this year everybody has taken the US election very
seriously, and the issue is very emotional to many. This is the first
time there is a good chance that we may see a woman or a African-
American president in white house. The competition is going neck and
neck so as raising our emotion and anxiety. When emotional level is
high it is much easier to begin attacking the person on the other
side rather than attacking the problem or the issue. The only way
conflicts get resolved is when we attack the issues and not the
members.

Instead of attacking persons, why can't we gather and put
information: identify key issues without characterizing the
opponents with adjectives? Please focus on what the issues are, not
who `ignorant' or who is `smart aleck'. Please note that each party
probably has strong points and have stated their position and how it
has affected them. It is more than enough to put logical analysis on
those, instead of attacking the perticipating person.

I will request the moderators NOT TO POST any debate on OBAMA ISSUE
for a while (may be for a week or so). Members can however forward
any article from newspaper or any other media that goes in line with
their opinion or belief. The progress will be monitored carefully.

Regards
