Actually even if the "story" is true it cannot tell us anything more
than what the story says. What the story says is that Obama told his
prof that he didn't get the grade he deserved and that the prof told
him he got the grade he deserved. The story does not give us any
additional data for us to deduce who was truthful (assuming there
is 100% objective criteria to decide that). It could be either way.
Just because there has been discrimination in past and to an extent
there still is, that does not provide a conclusive evidence that it
was a case of racial discrimnation. Because there are also plentiful
instances of absence of racial discrimination specially in academic
tests in universities. Of course it also does not rule out the possibility
of discrimination. We truly do not have any sufficient data to know the
truth. Sometimes admiting ignorance is the most logical thing to do.
All we can know from the story, if the story is true, is the
tautological fact that Obama confronted his prof over is grade.
To deduce (or imply/insinuate) anything further from this would be
a judgment call. Lessons of Quantum Mechanics is useful here.
A cat does not have to be either dead or alive. It can be either/neither.
Without conclusive evidence we have to refrain from any value
judgment and admit all possibilities.
