[ALOCHONA] Same old BD Awami League!

Same old BD Awami League!

By Taher Mia, USA

In his reactions to the Army report on the BDR mutiny Awami League's influential leader Syed Ashraful Islam has termed it baseless, rubbish, etc. He has also said that a portion of the BD media has been paid at least fifteen crore taka to publish parts of the report to tarnish the image of some Awami League leaders. Where did he get the statistics? It is very typical of Awami League.

Awami League Leaders did never do anything wrong, they can never say anything wrong!!! BD's incumbent president, ex-AL president, Mr. Zillur Rahman recently said that his leader can never do anything wrong. Does he remember what Hasina said about Begum Khaleda Zia in the 1986 BD parliament? Only a Bastee woman can utter words like that. Still Hasina is the paramount leader of BD Awami League.

In the May day rally Hasina said that the government of the four-party alliance looted twenty thousand crore taka from the electricity sector. When Begum Khaleda Zia challenged this allegation, Ashraful Islam said 'we did not say it, the BD Army chief said it'. What a reply! Shame on you Ashraful Islam!!

Hasina's son Joy and ex-BD ambassador Waliur Rahman have been saying (and writing) that graduates of the Kaomi Madrassas are infiltrating into the BD army. Upon questioning by journalists as to the source of his revelation, Waliur Rahman could not defend himself.

BD's commerce minister has been saying that Jungi's are responsible for the tragic events that took part in the BDR headquaters. How does he know it? Now Motia Chowdhury has joined him. Is this anything new for Awami League?

Nanak and Azam said (on February 26, 2009) that crores of takas were spent to stage the killings in Peelkhana? How did they know it if they were not directly involved in the tragic killings of some brilliant officers of the BD army?

Why the names and addresses of the mutiny leaders were not recorded when they went to have negotiations with Hasina? Why Sahara did never inquire about the families of the army officers in Peelkhana?

Any logical analysis of the events in Peelkhana will lead to the same conclusion, i.e. some leaders of the Awami League with tacit support from Hasina were dirtectly involved in the killings in Peelkhana.

Awami League will never change. It's history is like this.

Although irrelevant, I would like to mention that Tarek Rahman eraned money by doing business. He got a handsome amount of loan from the Rupali bank back in 1987. I myself was present in the Rupali bank headquarters (close to the former American Express Bank building). I am surprised that nobody including Tarek Rahman is presenting the facts to the media.

Then, how did Sheikh Mujibar Rahman present Dr. Wajed Mia a Rolex watch? Where did he get the money? How did Mujib's family get the car back inthe 60's? How did Mujib get the house on Dhanmondi Road No. 32?

Many people of the older generation say that Mujib was always an agent of India. Moulana Bhasani was the one who said 'Salam to West Pakistan' in the Awami League convention held in Kagmari, Tangail.
