[mukto-mona] Evolution can't Explain Only Allah swt can explain__ Dr Mohideen Ibrahim

Dear brothers and sisters,               January 17, 2010;

Assalaamu Alaikum Wa Rahmathullahi Wa Bharakhathuhu.

May Allah Subhana Wa Taala reward brother Mohammed Davies for forwarding the excellent book that debunks evolution. The book is found at:

the link forwarded by brother Mohammed Davies.

Islam does not deny evolution.

Islam permits evolution, but not the single seed assumption.

The link forwarded by brother Mohammed Davies is for a book that argues for Intelligent Design, an indirect argument that God created the universe. Inshah Allah we hope to review this book in the light of Islam in subsequent mails. In chapter 28 of this book, we find the following:

EVOLUTION COULD NOT DO THIS

Because the quail builds her nest and sets on her eggs on the ground, it is

necessary that they all hatch at the same time. Not until the entire dozen or so

are laid, does the mother quail begin setting. Who told her to wait until then?

However, even then all the eggs do not develop at the same rate. Yet all hatch

out at the same time! Scientists eventually discovered the cause. The faster

ones click in their shells to the slower ones, and that causes the slower ones to

speed their development! Everything in nature is a continual amazement.

Upon investigation we found evidences to support at least part of the above claim. We detail the evidences.

Gambel's quail eggs

A Gambel's quail has laid 8 eggs in my geranium pot. Last week there were 2 eggs. Today, there are 8 eggs. What do I need to do to encourage the mother to incubate the eggs but at the same time take care of my plant. Luckily geraniums don't need much watering, usually every 3 weeks. Will it be okay to water from the bottom with a saucer. How long is incubation period? How long do babies stay in nest? I'm excited about this. I want to take pictures but I don't want to scare mother away. I would like to read an informative article about Gambel's quail (life cycle, etc.).

The reason the mother was not sitting on the eggs is that she does not begin to incubate the eggs until she has laid all the eggs. Normal clutch for Gambel's quail is 10 to 12 eggs. Then she will sit on them for 21 - 24 days until they hatch. They all hatch on the same day, and as soon as they dry off, the mother will lead them away from the nest. They will not return to the nest.

I performed a Google search on -- quails hatch on same day why -- and Google returned about 105,000 links. The 28th link was:

EFFECT OF RATE OF STIMULATION ON HATCHING TIME IN JAPANESE QUAIL

It is known that certain species of birds—including quail—synchronise their time of hatching so that the young in a clutch all hatch at the same time. ...

We are unable to quote from the article as it needs to be purchased. Copyright makes knowledge the property of the rich. Islam does not permit monopoly. Our inability to quote from the article is a demonstration of the evil effects of monopoly.

Gambel's Quail usually have 1 brood of 10 to 12 pale-buff eggs. The female incubates the eggs for 21 to 24 days. The nest is a shallow depression lined with grass, leaves, and vegetation; it is on the ground or no more than 10 feet off the ground. All eggs hatch on the same day and the precocial chicks are fully covered with down. They leave the nest soon after hatching, relying on their parents to protect them and to locate food.

Gambel's quail usually nest on the ground, which can be a dangerous place for baby birds. All young hatch on the same day with their eyes open and covered with down.  From that day forward, they are ready to follow (and keep up with) their parents.

===

We could easily understand the mother bird not sitting on the eggs until she had laid all the eggs. How do we explain the fact that all eggs hatch on the same day?

===

Japanese quail will seldom sit on their eggs and they are best hatched either naturally under another species or artificially. The incubation period is 16 - 18 days.

===

The fact that the incubation period is 16 - 18 days in artificial incubation implies that the same day hatching under the mother is not due to the actions of the mother. This is because the body temperature of the mother would be same in all parts of her body and the mother has no way of knowing which egg hatches fast and which egg hatches slow. The following URL gives a clue.

In twenty-two clutches of Japanese quail and twenty clutches of bobwhites, a single egg was stimulated either by sound, or by vibration, at the rate of three per second, from approximately 48 hr before hatching. The remaining eggs in the clutch were hatched at distances of approximately 4 in. from each other. In the great majority of clutches the stimulated egg hatched first, and it is concluded that the development of the embryo had been accelerated by the stimulation provided.
===

When the eggs are hatched by the mother, the eggs are in touch. Thus the early hatchers could produce the sound to accelerate the hatching of the slow hatching eggs. Even then it is not necessary that all eggs should hatch the same day. Such same day hatching is probably the action of Allah Subhana Wa Taala, possibly through the Angels. Allah Subhana Wa Taala knows best.

Kindly forward to all the friends you have in the West so that the desiring parents could get the book and teach their children 'Intelligent Design' in their homes, even if the schools refuse to teach from such books.

With prayers to Allah Subhana Wa Taala,

Your brother,

Mohideen Ibramsha
