Re: [mukto-mona] FW: In a hotel in New York...?NEVER SHOWN IN AMERICAN MEDIA

Unfortunately this is not some "American" conspiracy. We all know American media is biased and for many years (Since the Islamic revolution) it offers very little positive aspects of Iran.

The current Iranian leader is known for his "Hot aired" speeches against Israel. Most likely he was giving those speeches to address his own political base in Iran.  Personally I see no need for such speeches, speeches do not help Palestinians.

During the same time Iranian president has been nurturing relationships with certain sect of Jews who do not support Zionist movement. I do not know of any pro-Zionist groups of Jews (Vast majority of Jewish people)  who are friendly to Iranian president. As he is seen as number one enemy of the state of Israel. Even 'Secular" Jews or liberal Jews do not like him for denying holocaust (Or even questioning).

During the time of prophet Muhammad (PBUH) some Jews not only admired Muhammad (PBUH) for his sweet nature but some even embraced Islam. Even today there are many Jewish people who learn about Islam and convert to Islam.

We often forget that Judaism varies between different communities and their practices also varies a great deal.

Also today average Americans are not aware of ground realities of occupied Palestine. They are often shown a distorted picture and history of Palestine. So people who supports rights of native Palestinians should take some time to educate average American people. Confrontational approach of Iranian president will only ensure more votes for him in the next election but will do very little to advance the cause of Palestinian people (Or Iranians).

With due respect to fellow members, I would suggest that, crying about 'Western injustice" will not deliver anything. Western powers or eastern powers will promote their own interests. It is only natural. We have to ask ourselves why we cannot promote our causes? As long we depend on others to speak for ourselves, we will end up with nothing. We have to learn lessons from history but living in history is not even supported by Islam.

Turkey is a much better model which balances modernity with religious values and they have a forward looking approach as oppose to typical backward looking approach taken by many Arab leaders.

It is not uncommon to find Muslims who are too eager to blame all problems on Hindus or Jews. If you ask him/her about Hinduism or Judaism most of them cannot even speak over 30 seconds!!

How can we criticize people without knowing anything about them? Is this an effective approach? I have serious doubt about that.

Peace!
