JI believes in service to minorities also
He said that the People of the Book were all brothers. However, he said the minorities and the Christians had genuine complaints that they were treated as second rate citizens. This was because a big chunk of the Muslims did not know basic Islamic teachings. He said according to the teachings of the Quran and the Sunnah, a Christian neighbor had all the rights given by Allah and His Prophet (pbuh). He said it was the responsibility of the Muslims majority to help the Christian brethren in their difficulty and try to mitigate their sufferings. He said if every Muslim knew basic Islamic teachings, he would make every sacrifice for his Christian brothers. Syed Munawar Hasan said that the JI had offered every possible help to the Christians in difficulties such as natural calamities such as floods, earthquakes, etc.
