Re: [mukto-mona] Re: Bangladesh Wins Freedom--Mr Kamal Das misinterprets Quran

"There are people who are afraid to embrace modernity albeit prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was very flexible without sacrificing the core values of Islam."  Indeed prophet Muhammad was flexible.  He even incorporate three daughters of Allah in his Quran, tried the compromise for five years and abrogated it later, calling them Satanic.  Was he sure that he did not receive many other verses in his holy book was not also received from Satan as well?  If he were, he would have taken steps to compile all the verses in proper order for his followers.  Besides these people do not have any idea on what is the heaven really built of, let alone have any idea on whether there is any book or not.

The whole context of Koran is related to the social condition of Muhammad's own times

The rigidity a reader finds in this book is nothing but the necessity of his contemporary times.

The fundamental values never change only application does and Islam does allow to "Update application of Laws" ( Known as Ijtihad).

The blunder one commits when this 1500 years old context is interpreted as the remedy the ills of our times.

The proponents of this dysfunctional school of thought are doing a great harm by insisting blindly that Koranic injunctions can be propelled to our times.

There are Muslims who takes verses out of context to promote their own greed. That is also wrong. The spirit and words of the Qur'an has to be understood and followed.

The fear which is the fundamental core of Islam is being used as a cult by these people who are blind to the unstoppable wheels of changes.

There are people who are afraid to embrace modernity albeit prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was very flexible without sacrificing the core values of Islam. There are also people who was taught all religions are bad and they are still stuck in the century old mindset and refuses to re-examine their ancient was of thinking.
