[ALOCHONA] Re: Dr. Dipu Moni's NY visit !!!!!!!!!!

You think I said only intellectuals are hypocrites and then made much of it. You clutch at straws and don't even know it. Here:

Not all intellectuals are hypocrites. But many Bongu intellectuals are hypocrites especially those who lean towards a political party. The biggest hypocrites are politicians, then intellectuals and then technocrats. Is that clear? Or do I need to make it fluffy for you to understand?

You didn't deny that many Bongu intellectuals are hypocrites. You didn't deny that many Bongu politicians are hypocrites. But you choose to talk about the hypocrisy of technocrats – because you are a hypocrite of the politically biased intellectual class.

I have tied myself into knots? Why don't you make a proper effort to explain how?

Your class, in both BNP and AL, is defined by sneaky cowardice. You don't have the guts to support a party openly because you know you can't defend your position properly. So you serve your agenda by diverting, distracting and diluting criticism of your chosen party. You feel obliged to do this because your party's politicians do all the dirty work that you don't want to do.

I'm angry because I have a lot to be angry about and I talk about it. You on the other hand have nothing to be angry about right? But you are angry about people who are angry!

"Remove this, cut this off, purge that and Voila - problem solved." You could, at a stretch, say that the first 7 words apply to me. That is my measure of the crisis we are in – given that people like you are so chilled out. The last 4 words are wrong – because it's not problem solved but at least we can move forward and deal with the next set of challenges.

"Keep this, protect this, consolidate that and Voila – problem solved" This is you. As if you ever advocated change. As if you have a lot to be satisfied about. As if you are urging serious reform or change of anything at all.

Your thinking is part of the political establishment. Your approach is the very foundation of status quo politics. You need to take a look in the mirror mate. A single sentence is all you used to explain away all the crap – "unfortunate details of people, history and context". Spoken like a true patronizing intellectual! Only your class can hide behind that. Only your class can use that as an excuse to justify anything, explain everything and excuse yourself of any responsibility for the nation's condition.

The common man is not gagging for Joy or Tareq. But if and when they ascend you won't even whisper in protest – but you will blame it on history and the common man. The common man is not gagging for Hasina or Khaleda. But as these two ladies, and their mafias, force themselves on their parties and the country you won't whisper in protest – but you will blame history and the common man. You don't talk about murder, corruption, extortion, incompetence and wickedness committed by elected officials and their apparatus – you excuse it and contextualize it.

Luckily for the country people like you cannot work in unison like before. Everywhere you look – except in your own political class – you will find free men challenging the status quo. It's still only a murmur. But it's coming. And history will not record the antics of our two bit politicians and their one bit gentleman intellectuals with any historical context. Rather, a bunch of mean minded, narrow minded, unenlightened and wicked people held the country back at great cost to the common man and our culture.

Shove your history, shove your context and shove your excuses. Go tell that to the widow of the Narsingdi Mayor and any number of good people who have been trashed on by our political classes, backed up by your intellectual classes. Oh yeah! And my technocrat classes too.

When was the last time you ever had the last word in a conversation on politics? You, who cannot name what you stand for. Last word! Manik or Faruque on acid have a better chance of making a winning argument than you.

Your dialogue is the very same dialogue that our politicians use to explain our condition - the very same politicians who make the dirty deals and spend the dirty money and tell the dirty lies to get to power.

This doesn't take learning. It takes honesty. I know this because I am informed, every day, by my community, by my society, by every Bangladeshi I have ever met who is not betrothed to a political party.  And nowadays I am informed by people who have for decades supported AL of BNP but are now fed up with the whole lot of them. You are informed by who - your brandy, a good history book and Farida?

You aren't a so called Nethrist. I am, in fact, clearly and openly, calling you a Nethrist because that is what you effectively are. Because the Nethris need your class to keep `contextualising'. They would pay you if you let them.

Should Salman F Rahman pay back his loans after returning the money he has plundered from so many small investors? Or should he pay back after bankrolling AL's next election campaign? Or should we ask the Finance Minister what he means by saying some sharemarket investors are more powerful than he himself is? Or should we contextualize Hasina protecting Salman F Rahman from the Committee investigating share market fraud? Nah. We get "Let's hope he pays back his loans".

You must be rather a sweet fellow for finding me more disagreeable than Hasina or Khaleda.

Ofcourse since the Learned One says it, it must be the truth.

"Only intellectuals are hypocrite" and they are responsible for all of Bangaladesh's ills! That you say it is worth pursuing in its own merit. Do we have a psycho-analyst on the list here.

We must ofcourse believe that you have no trace of hypocrisy in you!!! "Value free" technocrats (assuming you are one since U work for an oil company" are very squeaky clean because they belive in the pure technical solution. Remove this, cut this off, purge that and Voila - problem solved. And we are off to see the Wizard. This is not like extracting oil from the ground. Sink some pipes and oil gushes out. We are talking about some unfortunate details here people, history, context etc etc etc. But they are such bothersome pests. Lets eliminate them. Wipe them out! Bloody Fools and a gigantic pain in the ass!!

Ejaz if you just took a brief second to get off from your smug sanctimoniusness pedestal you would see what knotts you have tied yourself to.

Not looking forward to your last word, but bear it we must. After all you cant possibly give the so-called Netrist, vilest of the vile the last word......

Hah! ofcourse we should be so lucky......!

I said it because I do mean it. You need not wish for me to mean it. Rather you should wish for a bright day when you can express your own political opinion freely.

The hypocrisy of our intellectual classes are a big part of the problem in Bangladesh. I complain about these classes and their hypocrisy all the time. I am not an intellectual.

I never said some should be accountable and others not. I said the government in particular should be held accountable. An elected minister condoning murder and an opposition scoundrel condoning murder - both must be held accountable but the minister's action is more serious.

Only in Bangladesh will they be seen as the same. As contextualised and normalised in democratic terms by hypocritic intellectuals.

Sincere chamchas tend to stick up for sincere chamchas. You can spot them in the oblique way they stick up for Dipu Moni.
