RE: [ALOCHONA] RE: [chottala.com] Historic Speech of 7 March

Moulana Bhashani was a man of many extraordinary qualities with political insights but, as history proves, not enough foresight. It looks like everyone had misgivings of Himalayan proportion about the 1970 election and its outcome. How could the Awami League win in East Pakistan be so unpredictable that would drive both the Military and its Pir saheb, ABul ala Moududi to respond the election results with such ferocious, murderous enrage?

By the way, you have to fill my gap of knowledge. I am missing some background info when you address this semi-literate man with uncouth manners with the following sarcasm:

Mr. Shahadat Suhrawardy

My Blue Blooded friend how are you?

Mr. Shahadat Suhrawardy

My Blue Blooded friend how are you?

What if analysis is nothing but speculation. You are not in a position to say whether NAP (B)  would have won 5 or zero seats. It is just your opinion. The facts on the other hand as they unfolded are as follows:

Bhashani and so-called NAP (Maoist) did a historic blunder of HIMALAYAN PROPORTIONS by not participating in the elections of 1970 and for which they have paid politically ever since. The struggle for Bangladesh was a National Liberation movement led by Bengali Petty Bourgeoisie under the leadership of Sheikh Mujib and the AL, It was not a revolutionary movement but had strong roots in a mass National sentiments of Bangladesh derived support from all sectors except from the most retrograde elements of the country. The so-called Bhashaniwallas lost all say in influencing this movement by their over-estimation of their strength and prestige. And have been playing catch-up ever since.

I say so-called very deliberately since most of them ended up either as criminals, or collaborating and getting submerged into the retrograde military/military supported regimes. All of  which I am sure is turning Marx, Lenin, Mao whoever they worship or emulate in their graves. They were politcal dillettantes and oppurtunists. They played losing hand by their own choice.

I think it is time we examine Bhashani with a more critical eye.

Mannan Saheb:
Muzaffar NAP participated in the election and did not win any seat in the National assembly but they did win 2 provincial assembly seats. Mr. Sengupta was one of them from NAP. You are right, Bhashani did not want to run election under Military rule. It was blessings in disguise to Sheikh Mujib. Even 5 seats by NAP Bhashani would change the whole game. And I can assure you, Bhashani's people in NAP would have taken 5 NA seats at least in the then East Pakistan.

Now, I want to agree on one thing that you said about government's total dependence on intelligence units. Your Netri, Delhir Razakar, Hasina Wazed Mia is doing that more than Yahya did in the then Pakistan. Could you please suggest her on  the consequences? Please tell her to read the national mind of Bamgladesh and start acting accordingly.

Shahadat Suhrawardy.
