[mukto-mona] War Crime Documents destroyed after 1975

This is a fact verified by many sources in many different fields. My friend, Maleka Khan, a social worker, who had been working with the 1971 war- raped women,  had painstakingly gathered masses of reports and filed them at various rehabilitation centers set up by the Govt. then.   Shortly after Mujib's assassination, one of the Jamaati-type women at the Dusthya Mohila Punarbason Sangstha (which my mother collaborated with other women leaders to establish in 1972) just gathered the files, poured over some kerosene, and set the pile on fire!

News - Post-75 govts destroyed war crimes documents: IO

Dhaka, Apr 19 (UNB) - After the emergence of independent Bangladesh, Delwar Hossain Sayedee went into hiding fearing wrath of freedom fighters for his crimes against humanity during the Liberation War, said the investigation officer while making deposition before the International Crimes Tribunal on Thursday.

Sayedee, who fled from Parerhat in Pirojpur, took shelter at village Dohakula in Bagharpara thana of Jessore district, ASP Helal Uddin said, adding that Rawshan Ali, who gave shelter to Sayedee, engaged him in cattle grazing.

The IO said that while his identity as Razakar was disclosed in Dohakula, Sayedee along with his family left the area quietly on a bullock cart.

He said: "During the investigation in the Sayedee case, I found that papers and documents kept with the government relating to the activities of Pakistan occupation forces and their sidekicks like Peace Committee, Razakar, Al Badr and Al Shams have been destroyed."

Without mentioning the BNP and the Jatiya Party rulers, the IO accused the successive post-75 governments of destroying the official papers and documents.

The deposition of the IO continued for the eighth day.

The three-member tribunal headed by Justice M Nizamul Huq adjourned the proceedings till April 23 (Monday).
